Yesterday while at the Zoo we were lucky enough to witness a lovely family scene... The Chimps were all sitting in a group and the little baby was busy exploring around the tree's around where they were sitting and every now and again would go to his Mother Sanda to 'Check In' ... and then go off again ( never very far away) ... And it was a very special moment when he came out from under the tree's gave his Dad Luka a kiss and then off again to find another stick to play with ...
A very touching moment...
The baby who is around 17 months old name is Chiku ( which is Swahili for talker)..
Soon after this he shot up a rope that was attached to a climbing frame.. his Mum then went underneath and appeared to 'tell him off',... he then came back down to the ground .
They are not too different bahavior wise to their human counterparts..
I was at an RAAF 'you will attend' cocktail party many years ago and there was a chap there who said that animals don't have feelings. How can any moron say that when you see a scene like this.
I bit my tongue and wandered off to another group of people.
Sweet scene, this is a terrific monkey enclosure, I remember Max when he was small running along that wooden bridge & putting his foot through the slats & his croc shoe falling into the enclosure down below!
