This Mountain was always known as Mt Egmont but a few years back it was renamed it's Maori name Mt Taranaki.. It became a bit controversal and some are quite passionate about which name it should be called .. I put this shot on FB the other night and called in Mt Taranaki and was pulled up by a 'local' Mt Egmont please ... but soon after was told by my 'local' cousin that it was Mt Taranaki thank you... So Taranaki it is then...

In Oz, I would always favour an Aboriginal place name that has probably existed for thousands of years over some random Anglo name that some Johnny-come-lately suddenly decided to change it to. So I guess I would always favour Taranaki. Sounds so much better than Egmont to begin with.
@onewing It is snow Babs ... more often or not the top is covered by cloud so you would not know if snow was there or not ... we were very lucky to see the Mountain all 3 day's we were there ...
