Today we were taken on a real adventure... We were guided up a little used country road .. Kiwi Road is no more than a 'track' but we were assured that we could get through and at the end we would be awarded with Coffee and cake at the little country Taranaki town of Urinui.. We went through 4 tunnels this one Uriti was the largest and what a fantastic structure.. all hand dug and built.. They were built in the early 1900's for access to the newly built railway.. What fantastic structures built by our pioneers...
That is an incredible construction, what an adventure you've had! I once went to Taranaki from the norther end & drive along an old road, I've forgotten its name now, I think they called it the lost road or something like that...forgotten road? I remember it was very quiet & we met no one. Not as bad as this one though, this is something else!
Yes that would of been the 'Forgotton Highway' .. but this one is far more 'forgotton' than that .. it was a real adventure and really impressed the young guys at the Pub that night when they heard we had gone over 'Kiwi' Road ...
@maggiemae Not a roud to take your camper Maggie... really 4wd road .. one of the cars wasn't but made it through but a couple of spots that were a bit dicey ... but great fun .. not for the faint hearted..
