This is a historic photo.. It was taken by Whites Aviation probably around 1960 and it shows just how much the river mouth has changed over the last 60 years.. The 'Island' is now part of the Port sand dunes and now the exit is to the right .. This shot is of interest to the local fisherman that go out to the open seas to do big game fishing .. The Hill/Mountain on the horizon is Mt Karioi near Raglan..
Interesting to see how this mouth of the river used to be. Water can alter the shape of coastlines so much over the years. Are you on the far side of this river, interesting to see Raglan in the distance, a place I know quite well.
@happypat no we are on the forest side. FG's Uncle use to work in the forest and he gave this photo to him a few years back but its too big to fit anywhere.
