Last night FG and I went for a little drive out to the 'Peninsula' I wanted to check our the progress of the Pohutukawa's that flower around Christmas.. We have had some wet and windy weather so a lot of the blooms are past it but some tree still to flower.
They usually grow around the coast line but in one area they are around the gullies of the farm land and some of these tree's could of been here when the Dinosaurs roamed..
They are one of my favorite native tree's. We have one on our lawn which we got off the road side the weekend we got engaged and planted it, it is flowering at the moment..
