Texas Paloverde by k9photo

Texas Paloverde

This tree with green bark was growing in St Elena Canyon. The Texas paloverde tree is described as having smooth bark with thorns. This tree did not have thorns and had rough bark. There is a thornless hybrid paloverde tree so this is my best guess as to the name of the tree. In times of extreme drought the tree drops its leaves to retain more moisture. The bark then becomes the source of photosynthesis for survival in the drought.
The texture and color is awesome!
