Frans Hals-esque

Mary asked me to do a photo like the Dutch masters and mentioned Frans Hals, I hadnt heard of him before so chose him to model my shot on, he painted a lot of men with beards and large collars! take a look https://www.metmuseum.org/toah/hd/hals/hd_hals.htm I get frustrated with the oil painting filter in photoshop but i am not inclined to study how to actually paint with the effects!
Great portrait

Great portrait. Beautifully processed. I love the way the light falls, the expression and the obvious engagement you have with him,

What a great portrait of this kind face... wonderfully done, it does look oily/painterly too me!

This is absolutely perfect! The range of brown tones and especially the use of light. If it's not natural light coming through a window or door, it certainly mimics it perfectly. Dutch Master all the way!

I think you did a spot on job. I went to the frans hals museum in the Netherlands and saw quite a few of his works there.

Very impressive - fulfilling your brief but also such an endearing photo of this man.

I think you caught the soul of many Hals's paintings.

Oh well done. It does look like a portrait from an old master painter. I like it very much.
