Every day that I go out with my camera this is one of the birds I hope to find. I have never found one when I have my proper camera. I can either walk briskly for exercise or I can amble, stroll, and generally stop for every little bird I see. If I am going for a brisk walk I have to leave my camera at home. Today I found this pileated woodpecker within 6 feet of me while I was out for my exercise walk and I had only my cellphone camera. Sigh.
Year twelve! I'm enjoying life getting back to normal post-COVID restrictions. We're back to travelling and getting out and about more.

@thimblelady Yes, and he was actually close enough that I could have reached out and touched him. The cellphone camera makes him look far away but he wasn't.
