This is Giz who is stuck out on a limb being held in the tree by Jordan in the previous days photo - very typical behaviour during the breeding season rather than mid winter!
Thank you for the many wonderful comments on my photos
Ooh , my she is surely out on a limb in more sense than one !! What one will do to get out of the reach of the male !1

Hello, Giz! Welcome to the colony! @koalagardens I wonder why Jordan has her held in the tree, is it because she's new?

Glad to see she's holding on tight! Neat capture.

@kchuk this is normally mating behaviour or agressive behaviour to a male encroaching. If we knew if she is male or female we would have more clues which, but if she is a girl it is not normal winter behaviour. So many things I wish I knew! :)

Fascinating.

Wow, that's some position for Giz to be in. Great shot.

Hahaha, took me a moment to find the head!

Yes, I had to look for a bit to figure this one out!

what an amazing shot....

oh dear, hope she's not stuck there too long. We had that situation across the road from our house one year when the little female was stuck on a think branch reaching out across the road.

Ooops, hang on there :)

That looks a bit precarious :)

Oh dear, looks rather precarious. I hope she wasn't stuck out on that thin limb for too long.

@cruiser @salza Usually they hold them like this for less than 24 hours - usually at some point during the night the male leaves. if it was a mating, the semen of the male sets like a glue around the cloaca opening which is of course to try and prevent another male getting to her (not a pleasant thing for her tho I'm sure), and he holds her 'captive' for as many hours as possible, again to prevent another male getting to her.
Chris it's amazing how long she can just hang on the end of a thin branch isn't it! Usually they just go to sleep - I've seen a young male held out like that and the branch had broken partway through and was just dangling and he was fast asleep on it and stayed there all day. I was nervous as anything!
