by a nose

... that's how I identify koalas - and Tucker has a very distinctive pattern making it easy. He is another male that seems to be looking for a new home, and he is showing up here quite often. Thank you for the many lovely comments and deep questions about koalas.
Great capture . I stillwander can this sitting be comfortable.

Thanks for answering my question a couple of photos ago. Another one for you if thats okay... with dryer conditions bound to happen, does your permanent colony stay put no matter what? Or will they go looking for better leaves, I'm probably thinking more of the females.
This image another contorted position, neat

He doesn't look very comfortable up there!

@joannakate Another great question of importance :)
They are having to move about more to try and find leaf that is moist enough. This takes more calories so they need even more leaf - becomes a real issue.
The colony here use land than my property covers already so once they go across the boundaries I don't have a definite knowledge of where they are - I'm left guessing they are heading towards rivers.

Those mums with joeys on back will be doing it hard if the drought doesn't break before spring really hits as we usually have a dry spring.

@pyrrhula @fbailey it's a total mystery to us all - they go into very deep sleeps for many hours in these positions, so we can only assume they are somehow comfortable, but it's beyond me :)

I like the way you've placed him in the frame, and the strong line on the tree.

Tucker seems very relaxed...do hope he stays.

He looks so fat at that angle I thought at first it must be one of your Mums.

I did wonder how you identify them although I can often see differences. Good to have a new chap visiting regularly. I hope he decides to stay.

@susiemc Hi Sue - yes nose pattern recognition is the only reliable way I have found, but it means you have to get them to look at you. I do some funny things trying to get them to look at me past leaves and tree trunks sometimes for a clear nose view! :)
