There is nothing quite like the architectural feats of the spider - this is a golden orb and about 1.5 metres in diameter for the main web, and spanning a gate opening that is a little wider than 3 metres. It really pays to watch closely on my early morning quad bike rides!

@30pics4jackiesdiamond @wendyfrost the female orbs can be around 4.5cm long - pretty big! but the sexual dimorphism is awesome (and hard to figure the logistics it creates) as the males are around 4mm long - they look like newly hatched babies in the web! She will eat them too, so they are opportunists and have to wait til she is engrossed in feeding on a new catch then run in and try to mate her!
