Point of focus - Shell by kwind

Point of focus - Shell

I found this incredible shell on the beach this morning. I think it was an oyster shell that has been eaten or corroded. The texture and details were crazy. I had my husband hold it as it resembled a mask. In this shot I focused on the shell so his eye is blurry. In the alternate version I focused on his eye.

This is a tough one for me. I love the detail and texture of the shell, but I also really like the detail of the eye on the other image. I think I have to go with the shell, since we see eyes every day :)

Of the two, I like this one better, because, well, we all know what an eye looks like, but that shell, it's needs to be seen! Very cool shot! Would love to see it on color to see the contrast.

Wow, that is so cool. I like where you have focused on the shell - I think the eye looks great too. I realize it isn't in focus, but it still looks great.

Much prefer this one. The detail in the shell jumps out and is a more unusual subject.

Fantastic texture, wonderful focus and perfect DOF! I prefer this shot. It makes a greater impact. Awesome job. 8)

So creative! And the shell really resembles a mask by its line! Fine dof too!

Great shot. I definitely prefer this one, as I think it is more interesting as we can see the detail in the shell. In the other, the shell is all blurry, so we really have no idea what it is. And the main subject of this one ie the shell is the more unusual subject vs eyes

I like this one best, it really draws the eye (pardon the pun) to the detail on the shell. its a great photo, (I always want to insert your name here but all I have is Kwind).

I like this one better. It does look like a mask and a very cool one too. Rich in detail with the hole to add mystery! Great idea neatly executed.

Very cool. I think I like this version better. Not that your husband is not interesting enough. I like that focus on the shell makes him look like a X-man.

It's a shame to blur our his handsome face and eye (!) but this one of the shell is pretty amazing... and as that's what you were taking a photo of.......

I think I prefer this one. Love the texture on the shell in this one. Definitely the right move to take both and decide later!

I like them both! This one for the awesome shell texture and detail, the other one for the Phantom look... They'd be neat in a side by side collage.
