Wow... we woke to the BIGGEST waves we've seen since living here. Two of our driftwood trees toppled over. The pile of wood on the grass is normally our path to the beach. The rain and wind were crazy through the night but lightened up during the day. Storm number two is projected for tonight and tomorrow! I wish the big wave was clearer but if you enlarge you can see chucks of wood being tossed about. You might also notice the adirondack chair in front of the tree. That was on the other side but came falling over and is no longer usable. Mother Nature is powerful!
@lyndemc The one in the shot is now standing upright (he was completely upside down at one point) but we haven't connected the lights yet. We'll wait until tomorrow and see what the weather brings. The extension cord was floating in the waves this morning. The other tree is still down but fixable... tomorrow!
@maggiemae The funny thing was the rain pounding on our metal roof woke me in the night, not the wind. We paid a fortune for seaworthy windows... I guess they work because when we opened then doors in the morning, it was loud!
Mother nature doesn't know how to do things by halves but it has certainly given you a dramatic black and white image. I hope things calm down soon and more importantly I hope you can save your fantastic xmas tree.
Absolutely remarkable waves - Looked at the others you posted on your FB page - that's some storm you had - loved the rainbow after all the destruction. Mother Nature has some strong force! Wonderful shot.
Yes, mother nature is powerful, but that is also part of the appeal of living that close to the water! Amazing storm, and I am hoping that everything that got broken can be fixed or rebuilt....I saw the photos on FB, and it certainly did some damage!
OH my...this is such an example of Mother Natures power and fury. So sorry to hear about your trees!! I am sure we will see some again before long. Glad that the damage did not reach your home. We've had heavy rain, but nothing like this.
That is some crazy and wild waves!!! I love to be close to the water when it storms!! Love to hear the waves crashing and the roaring of the wind!! This is awesome, but I am sorry about your trees, hope they can be stood back up and aren't broken? FAV!
I think waves are really hard to capture. You want to snap at the height of the wave but there is no predicting that. But as someone who has driven to the coast to watch storms I think you have done a great job here. I hope the second storm didn't do too much damage.
What a powerful storm. It's good to hear your house is safe and sound and back from the water. I liked the rainbow that came out too, you had some great light throughout the day.
