I showed you the handles the other day so I thought I'd share the dresser itself.
On the left is the free dresser we got through a friend. We didn't like the colour and gold features so we sprayed the handles white and used a light grey chalk paint on the body. I'm not really happy with the result but I've spent enough time on it so I'm calling it done. It looks better than it did and it's going to our cabin where we are currently using a plastic tote to store our clothes. So it's definitely an improvement. I think it does look a bit better in person but I'm annoyed at myself for listening to the man at Home Depot that said I should spray it with a sealer. I should have skipped that step because the drawers are kind of blotchy! I did the top and and it was a disaster so I sanded it down and repainted it. I'm a bit of a perfectionist and this is far from perfect!!
Just keep telling yourself you did it yourself and it looks quite nice from what I see - something to be proud of. Believe I have a dresser that about matches the original. Someday!
Looks great from here! But mostly I’m inspired by your creativity, vision, and energy to take on such a project. You’ll appreciate your work when you’re at the cabin, I’m sure!
Beautifully subtle job Kim.....love the grey & white....you have rejuvenated it! No one but yourself will see the bits you don’t like so say nothing! Be proud!
I like the colors you chose. I believe spray paint in itself is difficult to get on smoothly and evenly. In the photo, the splotches of sealer are not visible. Just call it character.
Much better than plastic bins.
