On yesterday's walk we came across an area of frozen ground. It was the strangest sensation to walk on it. It kind of crunched and sunk. It was reminenscent of walking on sand but there was a sound to it. Anyhow, this is a close up of the muddy ice crystals.
I have experienced this in the Cairngorms when walking on the path in winter. It's as if the delicate tiny icicles push up from the path, so that when you step on it the ice breaks and your foot lands on the path with a crunch. It's fascinating and this is a lovely image. Great bokeh!
