The final one night stand challenge is macro. I WISH I had a macro lens (it will be my next lens purchase) but I don't! Luckily, my D800 shots huge files so I was able to crop this significantly. These are two old antique suitcases and a small tear in the edge of one. The piece of leather sticking up is about 1mm high. Best to view it large.
Here's another shot of the same suitcases from a while ago. You can't see the tear in this angle. The one above is slightly around the corner on the far side. http://365project.org/kwind/365/2012-07-04
The luxury of being able to crop a 24 MP shot! All I have is my little P&S 12 MP until i get my 16 MP D5100 back, hopefully this week. It has been 5 weeks!
But to the shot. The fine narrow focus field is great. Just like good macro shots should show.
Really like how this came out. It does look like it could have been taken with a macro lens. I bought a macro lens early on, especially after playing around with extension tubes, a close-up filter and so on. It makes things much easier, one purchase that I use all the time.
Well you did a great job! I am dying for a D800, a macro lens and a wide angle...then I will be set, only if I had a few thousand bucks laying around! I never cropped my pom, but you got fab results with this.
