I've never had much success with photos of the local mountains. The forest hides all the contours, and everything seems to lack contract and interest. I tried today to include the ruins of this mas (a Catalan farmhouse). It's a bit better than my usual efforts, but not much.
I love the ruins--the textures, the drama.
And I agree it's very tough to get photos of tree covered mountains that do them justice. Sometimes I can get something decent in the fall, with the colors adding dimension or in the evening, the shapes against the sky.
