Confluence: the place where two rivers meet.
In this case, where the Speed River (on the right) empties into the mighty Grand River, or Kenhionhata:tie as the Mohawks named it (on the left). This spot has been a hub of human activity for thousands of years. It is critical habitat for birds and fish. 227 different bird species have been observed within 3kms of this spot, including Bald Eagles, Sandhill Cranes, and Pileated Woodpeckers. It is one of my favourite spots in the world.
