Great shot Larry - I love your pics of the mid-west - certainly on my list of paces to visit the property looks as if it is in the middle of a field - does it have a boundary? Exposure is great given the shade on the front - I might have tried for a little more blur within the background trees to make the house a little more prominent - but I'd be very happy with the shot
This old house is about 2 hrs drive from my home, we came across it on a day-trip. It's about 175 yards from the road, and the property is marked "no trespassing". No angle available except from roadside. Mid-afternoon, the lighting was pretty harsh... I think it turned out pretty well, considering. Haydn, the comment about DOF is a really good point. I wish I had taken some sotes at wider apertures. I shot a few versions, but was thinking about getting a workable exposure.
I've recorded the location, maybe I can get back there sometime.
Larry - I think you were correct to concentrate on the exposure - I have looked further at this and I love the way the porch has fallen away leaving holes in the facade
