Old Chain Of Rocks Bridge by lsquared

Old Chain Of Rocks Bridge

Opened in 1929, this bridge carried historic Route 66 across the Mississippi River (just north of St.Louis). Closed in 1970, the bridge was repurposed in the late 1990s for walking and biking.
Great looking bridge. Nice that it still had a good use

I love the colours in this shot especially the rust against the blue sky - I had not heard of this bridge before and have now looked it up on the web and looked at Google Earth to find out more - it is a really interesting story - thanks for enlarging my knowledge

I like the pattern of the shadows fall on the bridge. They counterbalance the strong symmetry of the shot.

Super perspective and love the contrast of the rusty red of the bridge against the blue sky.

Awesome. I've seen this bridge from afar many times, but never actually walked across it. Fabulous shot.
