After the Rains by lstasel

After the Rains

4" of rain this morning. The paths are all flooded but most of the roads in the park are still open.
Oh my. That looks really bad. Where did this happen?

@annepann I am in Louisville, KY. It's very dramatic but not as bad as it looks. The park is set up with "meadow restoration areas". These areas are expected to flood. The only problem would be if you don't pay attention because the water rises very quickly. The water levels will drop pretty quickly also. If we don't get more rain I imagine most of the roads will be clear tomorrow. Some of the trails are gravel, so they probably will need some work done.

@lstasel Is that the Ohio flooding then? We have had more rain than usual this summer in Michigan, but not like in other parts of the country.

@annepann Hi Anne. This is a photo of Floyd's Fork, a tributary of the Salt River which flows into the Ohio west of Louisville. The Ohio is running high right now but no where near flood stage. The rains we usually have at this time of year are "localized" rains. The last storms hit the east side of town. So we got 8" over 48 hours but sections of the west side got less than an inch.
