Using baking soda as a natural pesticide against aphids is easy with these few steps to prepare and apply the solution.
Ingredients:
1 tablespoon of baking soda
1 liter of water
1 tablespoon of mild liquid soap (e.g. liquid dish soap without additives)
Preparation of the solution:
Add a tablespoon of baking soda and a tablespoon of liquid soap to a liter of water.
Mix well until the baking soda and soap are completely dissolved.
Pour the solution into the spray bottle.
Do a test and spray one leaf and leave for an hour or 2. If the leaf wilts, the solution will need to be further diluted.
Spray the solution directly onto the plants, making sure to cover all affected areas, including the undersides of leaves where aphids often hide.
Apply the solution in the early morning or late afternoon to avoid sunburn on the plants.
Repeat the process:
Spray the plants with the solution every 2-3 days until the aphids are removed. Also, you can use the solution as a preventive measure once a week.
