First Learning by maggiemae

First Learning

This is me at some early age - about 12 or 13, I would guess with my first camera. It was one of those that popped out when you opened it! Does anyone remember that model?

Three good things:
1. A visit from a cousin not seen for 9 years.
2. The photos weren't good but at least I still have them.
3. I dreamed I turned my hair white- so glad it was only a dream!
How wonderful that you found this capture of your early interest in photography.

September 28th, 2014
you were taking mirror selfies before selfies were cool! This is such an amazing pic! You are so fresh faced and the light leaks and all the "imperfections" make it perfect! Love it.
September 28th, 2014
@summerfield @espyetta I never thought of them as 'selfies' then. Its the only picture I have of this camera so pleased I have it.
September 28th, 2014
My word maggiemae you are ahead of your time.......such a pretty girl in that mirror too! I remember the Kodak camera........how cameras have altered although the principle remains the same I guess! This is a lovely photo to have...I have none from my teenage years ...feel quite sad about that .
September 28th, 2014
@happypat We certainly didn't have delayed settings then. I think this camera came out in the early '50s! Didn't your Mum have a camera?

@maggiemae well I can't remember ...there are photos of us kids when we were small up to about the age of ten but after that nothing of any of us......no idea why but idpf course cameras weren't as popular then...... I think the camera broke!

How great to have this shot. I suspect many photos were taken, but just never developed.
September 30th, 2014
@gamelee In those days, you had to save up to get the photos developed and wait for weeks sometime! So different to today!
