I'm glad this weird bird is chained to the roof! He's a steam punk sculpture that has been put on on the roof of the new tearooms built on the beach here. Its a wind vane with old blades from electric fans built into the tail and the neck.
Three good things;
1. Life is always interesting in Oamaru.
2. A builder came round to look at making a wind shade wall at one end of our deck where the cold south wind whistles round.
3. Frozen strawberries for our breakfast smoothie.
Oh he's rather splendid. We put solid gates up and have reduced the breeze on our patio a bit - just thinking it needs an entire building to make it habitable this week though!
This is a really great sculpture weather vane....it seems to have a life & character of its own.......well recycled by some clever person. That looks a tearoom to visit because I expect the inside is great too!
The wind break sounds a very sound idea!
@skstein Our town of about 13000 is centred around a harbour, Sandy. Big sailing ships used to come in here in the 18th cent but now just little fishing boats.
