Tekapo in the Canterbury hinterland was cloudy with no possibility of Mt Cook scenes or night stars! The Mt St John Observatory is famous for the Night Stars experience but nature intervenes.!
Three good things:
1. The hotel here had some difficulties - the internet didn’t go at all, there was a chlorine type smell in our small unit that we likened to a ‘cell” but the food was amazing and worth every cent.
2. The lake still had that wonderful icy blue colour.
3. Its supposed to snow tomorrow above 900 metres but we are at 700 here so OK!
It sounds like it might be cold, but what a lovely place to spend time in!! And, if I have not said it already, I am so glad you have recovered from that nasty cold/flu that you had, and are able to enjoy time with family going places! Looking forward to more photos...
@panthora Thank you Osia for your thoughtful comments! Almost right after that illness though John remarks that my cough sounds like I'm a heavy smoker which has never been true!
@ubobohobo Thanks Margaret - got rid of the bug mainly - just a cough to eliminate somehow! Perhaps it means I shouldn't exercise orgo out in the cold, and eat well and drink lots?
