Decrepit by maggiemae

Decrepit

Determined not to take a ‘pretty’ or beautiful photo, I knew where to go! This house has been like this for years and nothing has changed. Stuff lying about everywhere including motorbikes, barbecues and clothing! SO…..

Three good things;”
1, I got an ‘ugly’ photo!

2. The cat had to go to the vet and she is in kidney failure - not a good thing but at least I know there is nothing I can do except provide her with the right food - low protein, low salt!
3. John fixed a loose thingie under the caravan and had levered it up at the front so he could get underneath it. He ( as usual for a man) loved the challenge.
There is beauty in it's ugliness. Sorry to hear that your cat isn't well.

cool processing, very fitting
Interesting that you were determined not to take a pretty photo. Sometimes I take those, but when I go through them, I just don't like them!

Beautiful processing of a rather cluttered scene. So sorry that your cat is ill; at least you can have peace now that you know.
March 2nd, 2017
@dsp2 Yes, even if it is not a good diagnosis, at least I know the facts rather than just worry!
March 2nd, 2017
Sorry, your treatment enhanced this decrepit house considerably!
March 2nd, 2017
I love this. It looks like an opening scene from a horror or spooky film. .....don't look behind you! !!!!!!
March 2nd, 2017
@janemartin I've never seen anyone in this house ever, Jane!
March 2nd, 2017
@maggiemae don't go in! !!!!!!
March 2nd, 2017
I was going to ask if somebody actually lived in this house but judging by your answer to Jane no one does. It looks like it could be a cute place of someone took a little TLC to it

Sorry to hear about your cat too but good to know that you can take care of her still.

Such buildings seem to hold a certain charm, no matter how bad their condition.
March 2nd, 2017
I like the textures in this shot. The home looks like it has good bones with great window placement and window shapes.
March 2nd, 2017
I like what you have done with your processing except you have made it quite attractive in its own way. If walls could talk, there would be a few tales to tell here.
March 2nd, 2017
@seattlite I think it does have good bones - just needs a lick of paint and a tidyup. But its been like this for years. I guess its rented out and the inhabitants don't care.
March 2nd, 2017
@kiwinanna Perhaps when it was built - about the 1940s I should think, it looked like one of the best houses on the street!

Like your processing. Wondering how this house looks without your editing.
March 2nd, 2017
@gijsje Actually just the same - I just increased the contrast. Perhaps a bit more awful!
March 2nd, 2017
Well...it's not THAT ugly- because you know I like rust and peeling paint and the house itself has a certain charm to it. But take a picture of the garbage there on the side of the house under the window and you have definitely taken an UGLY picture! imho
March 2nd, 2017
Great shot. There is beauty in the old. Although, I wish the house dwellers would take better care of their house and yard. I am sad about your cat.
March 2nd, 2017
great edit - works really well for the subject
March 2nd, 2017
It looks beautifully ugly! This looks like a project I would like to take on to renovate an old house and bring it to life again!
So sad to hear about your cat - not good news! At least you know what the problem is. Fav for your old house!
March 2nd, 2017
I like the contrast in color and your editing.
March 2nd, 2017
What a find, it is not so much ugly and totally neglected. Love your processing.
March 2nd, 2017
heightened reality
March 2nd, 2017
Impressive capture and tastefully edited.
March 2nd, 2017
That's a good-looking ugly house!
March 2nd, 2017
Love this processing. It looks fabulous.

Beautiful ugly house...love your processing. So sorry to hear your cat is sick

Wonderful
March 3rd, 2017
You made a silk purse out of this sow's ear! I'm so sorry about your kitty. Oh and those "thingies", they can usually be fixed with a good whatchamacallit!
March 3rd, 2017
Hardly a work of art, Lou Ann @louannwarren ! it supposed to be ugly. Cat is ongoing....still won't eat! Thingie is my favourite word!
March 3rd, 2017
@maggiemae Okay, an ugly silk purse! Smile.
March 3rd, 2017
Brilliant processing.
March 3rd, 2017
Cool processing
March 3rd, 2017
It is decrepit but not ugly. I'd say it has character.
March 3rd, 2017
@skstein Oh bother! I'll have to choose something really ugly now!
March 3rd, 2017
@maggiemae I had a very hard time trying to find an ugly building for the Feb challenge.
March 3rd, 2017
I must agree that your processing has prettied it up somewhat! If you're wanting ugly you might have to try a new edit ;) Sorry to hear about your cat.
March 3rd, 2017
It certainly made for a great photo though. Very sorry to hear about your kitty. They often develop kidney problems.
March 3rd, 2017
Fantastic processing
March 3rd, 2017
@stray_shooter It seems to be the old age problem with cats. It is so difficult trying to encourage her to eat anything and she won't! I have to steel myself!
March 3rd, 2017
Strunning processing and a beautiful shot and scene. I see you changed your profile picture.
March 3rd, 2017
Wonderful processing! fav
March 3rd, 2017
Like your processing
March 3rd, 2017
May be a decrepit building, but still a pretty photo (sorry....) The intensity of the sky brings out the yellow tones so well.
March 3rd, 2017
I wish I had the carpentry skills to buy an older home like this (cheap) and fix it up and make it livable.
March 3rd, 2017
Fantastic shot
March 3rd, 2017
@skipt07 If this was for sale, Skip you would probably buy it for $140,000 NZ!
March 3rd, 2017
Your processing makes it look rather beautiful!
March 4th, 2017
@kwiksilver As I said before, Gillian - blast! It's supposed to be ugly! What is the definition of the word!
March 4th, 2017
your processing is fabulous - hope your cat doesn't suffer too much
March 4th, 2017
@annied Thanks Annie - I might but hope she doesn't!
March 4th, 2017
Great shot and like your processing
March 4th, 2017
So well composed to make beauty out of decay! Even if you didn't want to do a 'beautiful' picture!
March 4th, 2017
Love the processing, great looking house, pity it has been neglected. Sorry to read your cat is ill, these times are difficult.
