Desert Shade by maggiemae

Desert Shade

I have always liked Jack Vettriano’s umbrella paintings and this scene reminded me.
It is SpeedTrials day and so many vehicles lined up to do their run. Our crew had four Indian bikes all wanting to set records and 3 of them did including The Burt Munro Bike who set a record of 188 mph.

Three good things:
1. High Fives all around when the record was announced!
2. No champagne here - the guys don't drink while in charge of a driving licence! But we had plenty of pineapple flavoured water!
3. A great meal at Denny's - one restaurant that actually serves other choices than hamburgers!
Great tones and mood. Heels in the desert?!

@alophoto I would say she dressed especially to be noticed!

Its a cute ensemble, complete with hat!

@alophoto As I said - very noticeable and I did - don't think anyone else did though!

Great scene. I love the tones.

Great shot Maggie -- she is certainly there to be noticed -- congrats to the Burt Munro Bike record breaking at 188 mph ! I am sure the pineapple water very welcoming !

@beryl Thanks Beryl! Next stop and challenge is Bonneville which is now looking hopeful! The water is iced too - a great idea and I shall copy it!

This is a terrific image. As everyone has said she certainly looks overdressed. I think that shorts and jandals might have been cooler? Great results for the team.

Well done team Munro... and a fantastic shot Maggie.. and like @dide don't know that the high heels really the most pracitcal,,
July 17th, 2017
I just all the different tone you have captured here. And it is such an unlikely scene - wonderful capture.

This is a fabulous photo, Maggie. I love the colors and tone and subject, well everything about it. A huge fav.

Mary Poppins springs to mind! Great candid capture.
July 17th, 2017
188 mph! Oh my! Congratulations all around to your teams!!!!!
July 17th, 2017
As soon as I saw this photo it reminded me of that very distinctive artist Jack Vettrianno, I think it's the girl with the umbrella & the way she is dressed. Many congratulations to the whole team of Indian bikes & the Burt Munro team. Exciting stuff!

That does look like a painting
July 17th, 2017
Nice capture. I guess he must have been really hot in that gear!
July 17th, 2017
Reminded me instantly of Jack Vettriano, the tones are lovely.
How exciting to be there for such a record-breaking day!
July 17th, 2017
Great capture :) I love Indian bikes they were so ahead of their time with many innovations. Fav
July 17th, 2017
awesome shot maggie, excellent story telling in your shot
July 17th, 2017
@shepherdmanswife They would all be roasting, the drivers - have to wear the full protective gear and helmets!
July 17th, 2017
@dide I think she was trying to make a statement so her motorbike rider would be noticed. He might have been her father or her husband!
July 17th, 2017
@happypat There were so many on the team all with their own special job to do - even one looking after the paintwork! Everyone was stoked!
July 17th, 2017
@louannwarren Glad you liked the tone - chosen to represent the golden sun and the heat! Thanks!
July 17th, 2017
Love this very unusual capture fav
July 18th, 2017
fantastic story-telling capture ... Such a great image, I just think her shoes look very impractical for desert walking! I do love how she's holding the umbrella, and how it's a woman holding it over a man. Congrats to your team. Fav
July 18th, 2017
Oh boy I bet it was hot out there and then in that suit too.
July 18th, 2017
@lynnz thanks Lynn - I'm sure you agree that this photograph was just a one off! I had to be so quick to get this!
July 18th, 2017
@digitalrn These drivers were so hyped up with doing a speed trial, I don't think they even noticed the heat, Rick!
July 18th, 2017
no wonder they have the umbrella up, he must be roasting in all that get up.
July 18th, 2017
Almost a juxtaposed fashion shot!
July 18th, 2017
FAV. Although not necessary since this beautiful picture Has already been on the PP. It's a fantastic composition with fabulous tones and the most fascinating subject. Definitely a grand piece of art. I'd like to add my comments to all the rest of congratulations to your team and looking forward to continued good success at Bonneville.

That sand in the desert must be packed incredibly hard for her to be able to navigate with heels
July 18th, 2017
Great captured!!! Full of life
July 18th, 2017
Nice one and great news about the new record.
July 18th, 2017
Awesome shot
July 18th, 2017
@grammyn Thanks Katy for your nice comments. Its not sand but hard packed dirt.
July 18th, 2017
Fabulous capture, fav
July 18th, 2017
I think the lady would look more fetching in shorts, sandals and sexi looking top, but to each it. high heels in the desert don't look comfortable. as to your team, both thumbs up.
July 19th, 2017
You captured the feel of the heat well!
July 19th, 2017
P.S. - What @bruni Bruni said about the girl!
July 19th, 2017
@skipt07 most of the girls in shorts did not look good in them or in sexi tops! Too big .... this girl was slim and had a presence! @bruni
July 19th, 2017
What a contrast,
July 19th, 2017
The heels, the umbrella, the biker and the desert ... all so incongruous but how well it comes together. Super image!
July 19th, 2017
Fav so that bike is a big Indian ?
July 19th, 2017
@philcameron59 it is, Phil but unconnected to our lot and he didn't break a record
July 19th, 2017
👍
July 19th, 2017
