We will leave Yolanda and Mr Man to their best friend meetings….
These amazing hyacinths come through every year and we have been here for 9 years. It must be the rest they have underground!
Got rather dirty lying on the cold soil to get this photo!
Three good things:
1. Rugby is on for half the day now so I have to plan my day around it…. exercise, music not too loud, the right lights on in the evening! Its not a big worry!
2. Enjoying learning about so much on 365 - history. architecture, music - all round the world!
3. I bought a dozen of ‘ungraded’ eggs and just about 80% are double yolkers!
Lucky eggs, lucky you & John, would have saved me some time cooking one instead of two this morning! Love the scent of hyacinths! Don't be lying on the ground, you might never get up again without help!
@grammyn The sun makes such a difference to the colour but can be too much on reflective petals which these are. Fortunately they are pointing down to the ground!
Gorgeous, love hyacinths but have managed to kill any that I've tried to grow. You're gamer than I am to get down on the ground, I need a block and tackle to get up nowadays.
I used to have two Hyacinths that came up in my garden but I think the squirrels dug out the tubers because they didn't come up this year. Very pretty!
@olivetreeann I solved the problem of animals eating my bulbs by this easy fix. I made little bulb cages out of small hole chicken wire box. When you plant the bulbs make sure they are facing up then cover the group of bulbs with the small chicken wire box cover with dirt in usual way. Flowers will grow up thru it and animals can't get to bulbs.
I haven't seen double yolker eggs for a long time.
