in our favourite cafe. On the wall are two paintings by an Oamaru artist of great fame, Colin Wheeler. My history involved him being allowed to use our family Lake crib and he gave my parents a painting. I eventually got this painting after all these years but didn't particularly like it so I sold it. I'm not sad about this but did like the way he got so good at painting the landscape around this area. Another connection was ... I enrolled in an art class at the local secondary school ( I was a young adult) and at one class he had a model (delicately naked). I just can't do the human form!
Thankful for:
Those days are long gone!
@happypat I'm a bit the same, Pat. About 90% of the paintings we have on our walls have been given to us. I've got used to them all but sometimes I feel I want to have paintings I've actually chosen.
@maggiemae Well since we moved here I have a lot less wall space plus lots of my pictures & paintings I had at the farm do not look right on these modern walls. I have taken some to the charity shop & the rest up in the loft. I have just six pictures up on the wall, three newly framed in frames the same colour as the walls.
Paintings & pictures are a very personal thing.
