These Sea Gulls were grounded today. The winds are whipping again and the power has gone off once since I got home from work. Back on now, but who knows for how long?
I find this photo funny when I think about how animals stand in gale-force winds. Horses, cows, etc., put their hind ends toward the wind - birds face into the wind because if they turn around they are airborne. It's funny to watch them try to keep their balance on a stormy day - usually they walk sideways with their faces into the wind.
I have been hearing of the winds on the Oregon coast. This is such a fun photo. I never really thought about the how the birds need to face the winds to stay grounded. Ha.
