Just a little experimentation - not so sucessful. I wish I could have gotten the driftwood AND the ocean in focus. I had been hiking around the beach and it's real exercise hiking in the sand ... so maybe I was just tired (or didn't know what I was doing) ... I'd say I didn't know how to accomplish the affect I wanted.
Tripod would have helped. Then you could have taken several exposures, one focused on the water, the second focused on the driftwood. You then could have stacked them in Photoshop or other photo software for the effect.
IT's a tough shot because you were so close to the driftwood, making the DoF really large. You have some really nice textures on this.
