Oh boy hope you got it fixed.

@ceci "brian" had a less-than-complete understanding of English. And refused to believe that the telephone number he gave me was not toll free. After about 6 hours on the phone with a couple of different people, I stumbled onto a toll free number the next day. After a complete system restore (that didn't work), I was forced to re-install wondows 8 and over a hundred updates. I do have some use of the formerly black-screen computer but it'll take some time before I can trust it was any files (including photos). It was a fancy new Christmas present from last year that periodically dumps everything and sets itself back to factory defaults. I think I've used it a total of about 2 weeks since I got it, mostly to watch DVDs while I sew. But I'm trying to be optimistic. For now, still using the old computer.
