I love the orange (of course)! Was it really fast? My broke his hip two weeks ago and is in a rehab facility. I'm looking for a fast lap quilt I can send him. Strips sewn together then cut on point?

@wiesnerbeth, actually I found a stack of 10" foundation blocks I'd cut out of overly ugly fabric awhile ago. Pulled scrap strips out of a bin they'd been collecting in and stitched onto those blocks. Then trimmed and stitched them together. I have tons more, so I'll probably do at least another, but next time think I'll use a common center strip from corner to corner so that something will match up. It was mindless therapy sewing. Sometimes I just need to sit at the machine and sew without having to make decisions.

@margonaut Mindless piecing is about the only piecing I do! I like the idea of a common center strip -- or common something -- but I really like the randomness of this one. The foundation would definitely make it easier to piece. Last night I was trolling around on Pinterest and saw a huge variable star pattern and I think I'm going to end up with that for my dad, but I'm going to start cutting strips to do this for my nephew's graduation quilt. Thanks for a great idea!
