favorite from childhood

thought I'd read it again and see why I liked it so much. Blurb on the cover says Caddie hates sewing and baking. Made my daughter laugh because those are my two favorite activities now.

I loved that book too! Even as a kid I liked sewing and baking -- but I think I just wanted to be adventurous like Caddie!

Did you read the Beany Malone series as a kid? She loved sewing and cooking but was always getting into trouble. I loved those as well!

@wiesnerbeth No, but I'll be looking those up now! I remember checking Caddie Woodlawn out of the library repeatedly. I think I wanted to be a brave rule-breaker like her. Also, it could have something to do with the fact that she hated wearing dresses. This was a time when girls... wait for it... were REQUIRED to wear dresses to school! When I was in elementary. Can you believe that? One day we all got together and wore pants under our dresses on a snowy day. The principal called us to the gym and made us take them off. One brave girl didn't wear a dress over her pants and had to go home. It's inconceivable now.
