My dad liked to tell the story about the first time he ate dinner with my mother's parents. It helps to know that my dad's parents were German farmers, so every meal contained meat, potatoes, vegetables, and dessert. The first meal he ate with his future in-laws was corn on the cob and tomatoes. He would say, "Can you believe it, all they had was corn and tomatoes." It's one of my favorite meals!
@wiesnerbeth Ha Ha! Well, we did have dessert. Two desserts. Watermelon and banana pudding. My vegetarian daughter is in hog heaven. Meat and potatoes husband is struggling.
