Whooper Swans are winter visitors to the UK, October to March. Most nest in Iceland, mostly flown in one non stop flight. A few pairs nest in the very north of Scotland, but its very unusual to see this one which has just appeared with all the Mute Swans on a local canal.
That does seem odd. Maybe he has decided he wants to be a mute swan from now on? Or maybe he had some kind of injury that meant he wasnât able to make the long migration flight so just settled in with the local mutes?
