Noticed all these tiny brown turtle looking bugs all over the new wisteria growth today. Haven't a clue what they are! Haven't had time to do a Google search yet. Don't know whether they are harmful to the plant or not. Ack! Hope not! Most of them were in pairs, connected to each others' rears. So they seem to be feeding and breeding at the same time. Interesting...
Do you have a horticultural society? Send them this photo for identification - and you might be able to save the wisteria if they turn out to be a pest.
Fantastic close up. I have never seen these insects. And BTW, yes you can call me Ana... LOL (I saw the question somewhere, and now I don't know where)
@janturnbull Thank you for your kind comments, Janet! If I can't find them on Google, I will check with Clemson Tech. They will surely know. Appreciate your visit, very much!
@darsphotos Me, too! Darlene! I'll have to research them on Google when I have time. Thank you for your kind comments and visit! Always appreciated, too! Hugs!
It's mating season even for the turtle bugs ;-) Interesting little guys and most likely will ruin the plant....but maybe not. I'm sure you'll find something on Google. Neat find!
stunning detail Maggie, I love the diagonal across the frame (diagonals always make a picture better). The colours are vibrant and the image pin sharp. Great technique
tiny turtles indeed, great close up shot! You need the Ninja Turtles to go fight those pesky bugs before they take over the world - yuah, haa, haa, haa - (sorry I got carried away in a little cartoon drama). Nice shot
Good shot of them! They are so tiny, it is hard to get a shot. WHen I saw your title, I figured they'd be kudzu bugs and they were. I was going to tell you but I see you figured it out!
Here is one of my pics with these guys...certain times of year, we have swarms of them on our cars, in our hair, etc... as we have tons of kudzu by the school. They are also called stink bugs or lab labs. http://365project.org/espyetta/365/2011-09-02
@espyetta Yes, found out they are harmful, too. They are about all gone now. Thank goodness! They did a number on the wisteria's new growth. I'm sure they are needed to keep the kudzu under control though. I just prefer to control my wisteria and not some bug. LOL!
@cbawernsen Thank you very much, Corine!
