The top red leaf = cultivated variety of red maple - bought from Lowe's for shade over the deck.
The little red leaf on the right = eastern red maple tree growing wild in the back yard close to the tool and tack shed. My favorite maple tree, it is the first tree to bloom in the early spring with tiny delicate red blossoms which the Cedar Waxwings love to eat. You can drive through the Wateree Swamp in February and see the tree tops full of these tiny red blooms.
