It would be quite fun to have a go at a tin type. This has to be one of the easiest of the vintage processes to do, just using a black enamel metal plate instead of glass which effectively reverses the negative. They were particularly popular with soldiers as they didn't break.
@sjoyce Yes, I quite fancy playing with old analogue methods at some point. The big issue is the chemicals. I am not terribly keen to purchase all the gear especially as I gave much of my father's darkroom equipment away relatively recently! On the issue of tin types, I am fortunate to have some family photographs as early tin types.
For a tintype you would only need a plate camera (could possibly make one of these) and a couple of trays, a recipe for collodian, and various chemicals - nice!
