Having lunch with part of my family for my husband's birthday and in walks a small crowd of WW1 soldiers! They were dressed absolutely correctly and I subsequently found out there is a reenactment nearby. Took a few pictures with my iPhone and made this one (the best) look convincing, in post!
A well done shot. Perhaps the exaggerated sharpness is a giveaway that it is not a contemporary shot. I have a few shots of my grandfather and his companions from that time that don't even come close to the sharpness of the iphone.
@borof I think you mean the sharpness is a give away that it IS (rather than is not) a contemporary photograph. You are right of course and I have many family portraits, including members in uniform from WW1. A couple of years ago I created a series of wet collodion effect in Photoshop, and part of that was having a very narrow DOF. I did this one rather quickly using Nik Efex last night!
