A Touch of Color

Today is another dreary day, so it was a nice change to see this Gold Finch perched in a tree. Editing consisted of Picnik's auto fix, clarify, and cinemascope(cinemascape, cinema something) effect.
Nice. I love how the bird is naturally the only color.

very pretty, looks like he's ready to break into a song!

Awesome, another find that looks selectively coloured, yet is not. Cinemascope totally works for this shot too!

@pwallis
I'm not getting my notifications again. :(
I wasn't sure if the cinemascope was too much. It's a bit darker than I would have liked.

Cool shot! It feels like I'm looking at a still from a movie!

@myautofocuslife
Thanks! I'm personally quite fond of the movie still edit. I try to use it a lot in my work.

Cool shot, I like the splash of yellow!

@janmaki
What about the framing? The framing was done specifically with Jani in mind.
November 28th, 2011
@mej2011 The framing is cool and you could've emphasized that with a square crop. But I like the off-center composition with the letterboxing more. Very stylish shot!

@janmaki
GAH! I didn't do the square crop because I thought that wouldn't leave enough negative space for the birdie to be looking out at.

@mej2011 :-D No no no, this is a perfect composition.

Thanks Anya! I love Picnik as well. I have 2 downloaded editing software programs, and I still use Picnik the most. It's so easy to use.

@mej2011
Can I ask, are the other two editing programs "free"?
January 1st, 2012
@acousticlover
Yes they were free. Gimp & Photoscape. They have many more features than Picnik. I'm just too impatient to learn how to use them all. lol.

You're welcome. Like I said, they're good programs, I just not have the patience. I need to work on that for my second year.
