Eastern Garter Snake

It was a perfect autumn day for hiking. This little guy was probably more surprised than me when we met up on the path.......at least he moved faster than I did, though I did let out a little yelp ! Once off the path he held still for the photo op.....no doubt convinced that he couldn't be seen!

Great capture among the leaves! Snakes usually like to play dead when they find their life may be in danger. Thus the great pose!
