I took this photo of a butterfly I found on the traffic island on the way home. Seeing I couldn't find any flowers that needed pollinating in my garden, I thought to let him rest on the Frangipanni leaf. And doesn't he look gorgeous?
A few little-known facts about butterflies:
They are completely deaf and blind; seeing their world through their antennae and feet.
No four wings have the same design. So, if you ever have to paint or draw a butterfly, don't worry about being exact, the spots don't have to be spot on.
The Deaf Society of Queensland use a butterfly as their emblem to raise money each year through Suncorp Building Society; selling badges in the shape of butterflies.
Writer, poet, artist and prolific reader.... that's me.
I'm a collector of books, vinyls, coin purses and strange handbags... that's me too.
Otherwise, I love...
Thank you all for your lovely comments. @miraries since I was around 15 I've learned sign language because I wanted to communicate with my neighbour who was profoundly deaf at the time. It opened my eyes to that world completely; so much so that I have gotten myself up to around module 3 or 4 of AUSLAN and I'm happy to say that once I have practiced enough, I can carry a good conversation in sign.
