Yesterday, while I was reading in the afternoon sun, I kept hearing a smoke alarm going off. I thought it was the Indians making Naan bread; but I was dreadfully wrong as I heard sirens and saw that the fire engines pulled into our unit complex and the gate opened!
Unit 12 had smoke billowing out the top windows and the guys were ready to smash in the back door when the owner came home. She rushed up with the house keys and they opened up the side door to find she had left a pot of soup on the stove and clean forgot to turn it off before going out.
I'm not sure how badly damaged the place is; however it really shook us all up at how easily this is done, and how easy it is to forget the smallest things. How fortunate the lady has such caring neighbours and now we're all looking out for her as none of us knew she was living alone.
Writer, poet, artist and prolific reader.... that's me.
I'm a collector of books, vinyls, coin purses and strange handbags... that's me too.
Otherwise, I love...
This can easily happen to anyone.
Good to hear that people are going to look out for your neighbour.
Good collage!
Art least the firies didn't have to travel far !
