My Geranium - Protected! by mozette

My Geranium - Protected!

I went out today and hunted around for a bird cage. I looked into all the charity stores - asking if they had any and telling them what I'm going to do with it. Then, I looked around Woolworths. They didn't have any. K-Mart didn't stock them anymore - but they used to.

Darn!

So, I went into Dollars & Sense... and right at the back, I found this one in two colours (black and green) and then there was a smaller one (which came in a couple of colours too of purple and green). And so, estimating on the size I'd need, I picked the bigger cage and bought it!
When I got it home, I pulled out the swing, bars and feeding trays, tied up all the doors and pulled out the floor and then popped the plant into the floor of it (which fortunately has a gap to let out any excess water when it rains), pushed the cage itself over the top and popped it into place and - voila! - instant Geranium Protector.

No muss... no fuss. :D
Well it really does the trick, and once she grows a bit more and fill out the inside, you will have a great looking arrangement

@digitalrn Yeah! And the best thing is that the cage looks great too! I thought it was going to look a little daggy, but really, it looks very classy... I can't wait until it really gets going and begins to flower. :)

I'll update you with how it's going in the coming months. :D

That looks adorable! Adds charm to your garden and keeps the birds *out* for a change!

@Weezilou Actually it's not the birds having a feed, it's the possums that are. They sneak in during the night and grab all the leaves off it, leaving my poor little plant bare... but I have been leaving my basil out for them to eat (as it's not doing to well right now because it's too cold for it to grow) and they haven't had much interest in that; just this plant.

So, the cage was called for. :)

@mozette I never thought about those cheeky little possums! They're so cute, you can forgive them anything, can't you?!

@Weezilou Of course... they're just hungry little tuckers; and have a sweet tooth. :P
