Isn't it cute how that one orchid at the back seems to be saying, "Hey, over here, look at me!"
Standing out from the crowd is something I always try not to do. In fact, if I could have a super power, I'd choose invisibility. And no one would ever see me again. 8D
I believe the orchids in my photograph are Phalaenopsis "Elegant Debora". The petals are a deep wine red color edged thinly in white. They look kind of bloody to me, and that's why I like them.
Perfect selective focus technique! Well done! The white ones are my favorites of these orchids. They look like European nuns' caps. But, the red ones are fascinating!
You focused on the right one . . the little diva! Perfect dof, really just perfect. Love the wrinkles on the petals. Great texture there. Do I want to stand out in the crowd? Never! I even feel like I stick out too much when I am taking photos outdoors. I look for the most private spots that I can find to photo shoot.
A great shot and love you interpretation. You have most a great imagination and sense of humour. I `m with you, I hate crowded places
Thank you for you answer, I know where it is > For our country I still prefer summer.
@karenann *LOL* We are the same in that respect! I always seek out the most secluded spots in the botanic gardens to take photos. I prefer to have no one around me. If the tourists arrive, I leave to return later, when they are gone. I don't think I will ever be able to do street photography. I should, since I live in the city and the opportunities for street photography are countless, there are people everywhere, but I don't think I can. 8(
@pixiefsu50 Most of my orchid shots were taken in the botanic gardens but this one was taken at an orchid show at the local conservatory. I make regular trips to the gardens to practise with my macro lens. I love shooting orchids and other flowers. 8)
Livia this is stunning. And yes, I prefer to be alone when taking a photo. Struggle to take street scenes. Have seen some great ones to take but don't want to be standing out there!
Before I even read the caption, I thought "Oh, isn't that cute how one of them is standing out!" Great capture! I am curious as to why you don't want to stand out. I think it is kind of an admirable quality to not be "me, me, me!" I like to stand out some times but be invisible other times..
@elizabeth264 Why I don't want to stand out? That's a good question! I guess the reason would be... Fear? Confusion? I wouldn't know what to do with the attention. I don't know how to react to attention. It bothers me. I don't like people noticing me. I just don't see any advantage in it. When people do notice me, I can't help but wonder if it's because my clothes and shoes don't match or my hair's a mess or if I walk funny or have a dead insect plastered to my forehead. It just makes me nervous to be noticed so I'd rather not be noticed at all.
@myautofocuslife ..hmm. well, thank you for clarifying that! :) I have a friend who says the same thing. Now I feel sort of bad for you! (sounds kind of stressful.) Anyway, this is a lovely picture and thank you for sharing something about yourself.
A great, big, diva-flavored "THANK YOU!" to everyone!
So glad you've enjoyed this shot. Who knew orchids could be funny!? Your support means so much to me. I'm learning something new every day on this site, and from your thoughtful comments. Thank you so much for your kindness.
The colours and textures here are awesome and your dof is perfect! :-)

And entirely agree about invisibility :)
