The Husband was looking at the photo files on my computer.
The Husband: You know what's missing?
Me: The humongous diamond ring on my finger that you never bought me?
The Husband: Seriously. You shoot dead things.
Me: Flowers aren't dead things.
The Husband: I mean, things that don't move.
Me: Oh. But of course. Because I'm slower than most things that move.
So a week later, we were together and I was taking photographs of flowers when he suddenly grabbed my arm and pointed and said, "There! A lizard! Get it!" I looked for a few seconds, trying to see where it was. I finally spotted it. But the little lizard was too far away. There was no way I could shoot it with my 30mm macro lens, so I scrambled for my Lumix with the zoom. All the time I was thinking, what am I doing, it's going to be gone by the time I get this camera out. But it was still there, so I zoomed the living daylights out of my compact and clicked repeatedly. A few seconds later, the little lizard ducked and darted out of sight.
I was hot and bothered and unsteady. I didn't think any of the shots would turn out decent. And they didn't. Except this one. Sort of. 8D
LOL . . Fantastic catch, Livia! You're so like me that it's uncanny. I cannot rush for the life of me when my husband says, "Look at that bird or there's a squirrel." You hung in there tho . . this little guy is amazing. Looks like he's saying, "Hurry up, please! I haven't got all day, you know!" Beautiful dof too. :)
Lol! It's a cool shot! Even if not a close-up, I like the sharpness on the lizard, and it's beautiful environment! Sometimes pics work better with some surrounding stuff than up close.
I laughed so much at the first two lines of the conversation between you and your husband, could so easily have been a conversation between me and mine! LOL:0)) Great catch, as Karenann says he looks as though he is saying hurry up.................
good eye your man has! and your lil story made me giggle. What a cute lil lizard!! i like that he is just kind of posing on the flowers as if to say, "ok, here i be, take me shot so i can get outta here."
awesome!
great lizard take!!
i really like how you have to sort of find him in the photo.
makes it interesting to see his surroundings too.
yay for having two cameras. some people think i am just way too intense when i have two cameras around one neck.
I like things that don't move too. And things that don't bite. And things that don't require an internet search to find the name. But I also really like this lizard!
Score one for The Husband! They can be so helpful. :-) Nice catch. I know what you mean when you are scrambling to get a photo and sure the whole time that it will be gone, and the heartbeat increases, and the breathing rate increases. So when it's still there -- that's a great moment.
I know what you mean. I'm horrible with moving things. Yesterday's photo of my cat took forever to get her to stay still. Her eyes will glow the color jade in the right lighting. Of course everytime they did, the photo was out of focus. Great capture, awesome color. And someone should congratulate the lizard for being a great blender. Took a few times to realize he wasn't part of the plant.
Livia, it's those unexpected photos, captured without time or a lot of thought, that always seem to rise to the top! This is exceptional! Given your explanation of being unprepared and hurried, you did a wonderful job! I love it!
I too do`t take much of moving things , My camera don`t have a tele-lens and I can`t get close enough . I`ve to live/deal with it. But I`m good in finding toadstools.
Great you have this beautiful one . (S) he looks so curious into the world When I ask my wife she wants a golden or diamond ring she say NO. Way I don`t dare to wear it
she say . I can loose it and won`t sleep for a month. So I give her a kiss instead. She loves that too.
Thank you verey much for fav my pic , it make my day
He does have the get a move on look. Great shot, the flower petals reach out in the front, and froggie is so sharp. My husband spots things to while I am saying, where, where! Love your story, please keep sharing, it's so nice.
WOW!! I love lizards! This is a fav for sure. Oh, and I love "dead" things too because I just bought my first DSLR with a crappy zoom. When I can afford a real zoom I'll get better things lol. Excellent photo!!!
Thank you for stopping by. I loved reading all your comments. So glad you've enjoyed seeing the little lizard. I think I was really lucky that this one photograph didn't turn out blurry and unrecognisable.
Your support means so much to me. I am grateful. Thank you!
It took me a while to see the little guy on the leaf. Stunning shot Liv. Gonna have to fav this one too! Sounds like it was lucky he hung round long enough for the shot, lucky you!
Saw this on PP....what a cute fella! I love lizards but we only see them when on holiday in warmer climes. Whizzing off a few shots is a good idea to try and get at least one ok shot....but this is more than ok! I read your profile and was so ppleased to see you singing the praises of the lowly P&S. I am year 3 on such a camera and really testing it to the limit! You have some great ideas and I would love to follow. :-) Fave btw!
note to self: never EVER view livia's album or read her captions when: drinking hot tea. in front of computer. at work. with important papers around. never EVER! holy camoley! i almost died laughing. and my lips got burned! you are so funny, lady! the shot is fantastic, but you are so funny!!!!!
