Who else remembers David Carradine being called Grasshopper in Kung Fu? (I know, my age is showing.)
Not only are our bees tiny, the grasshoppers are small. I haven't seen one that is bigger than 2cm (1in) yet. This little guy was shot in a mangrove forest. Isn't he cute?
Did you know that if someone tells you, that you have a grasshopper mind, it means you have a short attention span and can't concentrate on any one subject for long? 8D
So sad he died the other year didn't he! This is a great shot though, full of detail and I can't begin to imagine how you managed to spot him on such a green leaf
@markyl I use a 12-year-old version of Paint Shop Pro for editing and it eats my EXIF info. I do indicate what cameras I use in my profile. This shot was taken with my Sony NEX-C3 (mirrorless interchangeable lens camera) and 30mm macro lens. 8)
@hasselhotch@aud_c Spotting tiny insects does get easier with practice. I visit the parks and mangrove forest every few days for macro subjects to shoot. 8D
I can't forget! I loved that show! I love martial arts so I saw him in quite a few movies, too. A marvelous shot, Livia! I love the tone on tone capture and still with all the details, too! Great job, gal! LOL! Around here, we use..."that boy has the attention span of a gnat!"
Perfection!! Yes ... I do remember "grasshopper!" The detail on this is stunning. Obviously you do NOT have a "grasshopper mind," Livia. You had a great attention span to capture this little guy. :)
How can I forget. I was mesmerised by it and still like martial Arts and Chinese cinema to this day, though no-one else does at my house so I rarely get to see any. WIth my new IPad though.....
Master: Close your eyes. What do you hear?
Caine: I hear the water, I hear the birds.
Master: Do you hear your own heartbeat?
Caine: No.
Master: Do you hear the grasshopper which is at your feet?
Caine: Old man, how is it that you hear these things?
Master: Young man, how is it that you do not?
@seanoneill Oh wow, I watched that clip on Youtube earlier! 8D I grew up on a diet of martial arts-related stories in the cinema and on TV, and even listened to swordfighting stories being narrated on the radio. When Kung Fu came along, I was totally hooked since it was my first time with a kung fu story being told in the English language! It's a very, very different take on the genre. 8)
Absolutely fascinating animal - love his strange eyes and his interesting colors and patterns. Wonderful shot, Livia - I wonder what else you will discover in this macro world :-).
I am so impressed! I saw my first grasshopper of the season tonight and he was way too quick to take a photo. Your shot is amazing. Such wonderful color and details. Well done!
lovely green on green ! great macro !
PS : In French version, David Caradine was called "petit csarabée" that means "little beetle", funny, may be the translator didn't know what a grasshopper was !
yep! very cute :) lovely macro photo! (and altho' i should remember that movie, i don't... your quote somehow makes me think of star wars... did yoda ever say something like "patience young padowan"?)
i used to catch these! my classmates and i we make them fight with each other along with spiders. but our grasshoppers were about three inches long. these days i just shoo the heck out of it when i see it. :-) this is a great shot, livia. wonderful details.
Love the green on green.....cool capture, Livia. Love it!! I am what you call a "multitasker extraordinaire" and probably would fit into the grasshopper mind category ;-) Never heard that before.
A great, big, happy-hopping, freshly green, generously dotted, loud and close "THANK YOU!" to everyone!
So glad to be able to read your comments. Thank you for stopping by! Spotting green grasshoppers on green leaves takes some getting used to. But it's also one reason why I love doing macro shots because looking for the macro subjects is part of the fun. It's like going on a little adventure every time, and every tiny discovery makes me happy. Your constant support makes me happy and grateful, too.
Beautiful capture. Love all that green. You know, I don't think I've ever been told that I have a grasshopper mind...but...wait...what were we talking about?
awesome shot!!!

Love the vibrant green. You really are the queen of macro shots. :)
