The rose is yellow. I processed the living daylights out of it, added grain, and a quote from Oscar Wilde.
I've never done this—adding some kind of inspirational quote to a photo—so I thought I'd give it a shot. It's so not me. It's out of my comfort zone.
Why? Hmm. Because I think stuff like inspirational posters and such are telling me what and how to think, and I don't like being told what and how to think. Besides, I'm always thinking about how wrong things can get. How bad they are and how much worse everything can be in 10 minutes' time. I believe in Murphy's Law, and then some.
Start doing the 3 positive things!! It really makes you search for the positive from your day...however small and insignificant it may at first seem, and disregard the negative, which is something we all tend to focus on first. I'm with you on the quotes on photos thing. I think I've done it once in my nearly two years here. Having said that I love this shot.. The grain gives it a real shimmer and the colour is gorgeous xx
Beautiful. I love the combination of words and image. (I must admit I dislike it a little bit when the words are used to "explain" a rather weak image - no danger of that here :-)).
Oooo a totally different feel of photography - good going! I think inspirational quotes just remind us of what we often forget and take for granted. You chose a good quote.
Oh, isn't it nice to step out of the box once in a while? This is lovely and so not you! Will make people look twice, good on you for rising to new heights!
What a lovely quote, true in my estimation... and I love the image of the rose... what beautiful color tones. You could make some wonderful posters and greeting cards!
FAV.
I hope that you are not really morose and melancholy as this made me smile - big time.
I always try to think that 10 minutes after that things will change again into someplace that I will really enjoy being.
Beautiful flower, beautiful processing, beautiful quote - you are truly a romantic despite subscribing to Murphy's law. Anyway, he was an optimist according to some 8-)
On small side pads grows the most beautiful flowers .
I`m who I`m because I`m . That`s for me excuse enough and have give up wondering why.. I love the outcome. a beautiful pic with a lovely quote
Everyone has said it all....I will admit you seem to have a quirky personality, but you certainly don't let 'morose and melancholy' come through in your photos. Love 'em all. This is totally wonderful...even with the quote! :P
This is really nice Livia, you did a great job on it despite being far outside your comfort zone! I really like the processing job you did on the rose pic. I like making these type of posters, but I do ones that mess with people's heads instead. I pick a totally quirky or inappropriate quote to go with the photo, or one that conveys the opposite mood of what most people would expect from the picture, put it on in a fancy font, and ta-da! Hours of fun. Well... a good laugh or two anyways. :) I suspect you might have a natural flair for something like that. >:D I adore your wit as well as your photography!
Beautiful photo, but like you I don't like being told what to do. I've got this ID thing on me when I run (in case I collapse or being hit by a car) on which other people have inspirational quotes, mine says "No stupid slogan, ever!"
That Murphy has a lot to answer for! Morose and melancholy perhaps but you produce some wonderful images. I would prefer this without the words but it's still lovely!. itt doesn't look over processed, it looks respectfully processed.
I've done the word thing with photos...words and images go together like honey and toast....you know what I mean. :)) Love the words and the photo...so beautifully done.
Lol, well looks like you'll be given multiple sets of inspirational, positive quotes after stating your views on Murphy's law. Lovely shot and processing!! - I refrain from adding my set of words ;)
A wonderful shot Livia! The composition and processing are so beautiful! I am with you on the quotes, but sometimes its so hard to name or describe a photo and google makes it so easy to find something fitting...well some of the time anyway! ;)
You cannot be like you say, Livia. The beautiful and lively pictures you post on 365 speak of you as a different person. Fabulous processing in this beautiful picture.
I agree Livia, this is not your usual style. Having said that, it is a lovely calm picture. I'm also not a huge fan of quotes on pictures, but hey ho, you only live once :)
Livia, your wry sense of humor always amazes me. You seem like just the opposite of what you say your are ;-)) So I always chuckle when you express your true feelings. Anyway, you did well out of your comfort zone and the quote & processing are beautiful. This is greeting card material!
Great capture. Love the processing and it fits the quote. Have to agree though, not a huge fan of inspirational posters. Everytime I see one I scowl and yell at it "Who asked you anyway!?" Ok...maybe that never happened, but I'd like to sometimes. :)
Livia this is so beautifully done. Love the processing. You have certainly given us a new look. I have a different thought on the quote. Sometimes these can make us stop and think.
A great, big, monochrome, soft and layered and romantic "THANK YOU!" to everyone!
I am grateful for your encouragement. I did have fun with the processing but it's so not me, not the kind of thing I'd do, and I can't say I like the result. Thank you for stopping by and letting me know! 82 more shots to go!
But the photo is anything but morose and melancholy ... it is soft and sensuous and the fact that you can see beauty means you are beautiful inside. Sorry if that sounded like an inspirational quote (hahaha :))), it just came out impromptu :)
I love the special treatment you gave this rose. it's gorgeous in the lighter tone. when I first looked at the thumbnail I thought I saw a pair of eyes looking at me through the flower. as for the quote I could do without it too.fav. for me.
I hope that you are not really morose and melancholy as this made me smile - big time.
I always try to think that 10 minutes after that things will change again into someplace that I will really enjoy being.
I`m who I`m because I`m . That`s for me excuse enough and have give up wondering why.. I love the outcome. a beautiful pic with a lovely quote
soft and fragrant.
Love the detail and the grain.
I am grateful for your encouragement. I did have fun with the processing but it's so not me, not the kind of thing I'd do, and I can't say I like the result. Thank you for stopping by and letting me know! 82 more shots to go!
