Mahatma Gandhi: "An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind."
Not any of the boys. He is an extra head. I had bought this head for Wish but, over time, I realized that he wasn't what I really wanted Wish to be, so when I managed to get the "right" one for Wish, he went into storage. I had intended to sell him but never got around to doing it. Like all my other BJD boys, I believe I will hold on to him for the rest of my life.
What this is, is a shot of the extra head, without any eyes in his sockets.
Ghandi was right. But Jesus taught against this before Ghandi when He said, "You have heard that it was said, 'Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.' But I tell you, Do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also." Matthew 5:38,39
@skipt07 I am not a particularly religious person. Part of me likes these teachings. They speak of tolerance and compassion. There is the assumption that there is hope for mankind, there is hope for change, and for the better. Part of me says, in actuality, the fairest thing to do, is an eye for an eye.
wow! this is stunning I thought that it was a real model at first then realized that it wasn't. I love your POV and the lines and softness of the face. this is so beautiful. It almost looks sad though?
@myautofocuslife - There are varying points of view as to how long man has been on earth depending on whether your come from an evolutionist or creationist point of view. There is indeed hope for mankind! But if we look back through the history of the world it doesn't take very long to see that the hope you speak of will not originate with man himself. There have been far too many powerful evil people who have used their powerful positions to oppress their fellowman.
Wonderful shot Livia, love the lighting, composition and B&W. Had too look twice when I read it didn't have any eyes because I didn't notice the first time lol.
this is really stunning,so smooth and delicate.had a look at the other photos but this close crop really makes this stand out.so beautifull. hopefull more than sad i think.
Wish is just the perfect name for him! He has such a searching, hopeful look to him! Definitely has a feminine side to him - maybe showing a his compassionate side!
Fabulous composition and processing! I hadn't noticed the lack of eye ball until I read your description, I thought he was just looking off into the background... lol!
Beautiful shot Livia. Even though you said he has no eyes it looks as if he has an eye looking off to the right. I think he could star in adverts for male skin creams, his skin is so perfect!
If he get's a new head, is it still him? What part of a BJD or human is identity attached to? Or is it a bit like Geoge Washington's axe, after 5 new handles and 2 new heads, still his? I am going to mull over this all evening now!
I guess my mind naturally filled in the iris because I didn't really see that it wasn't there. These dolls have very graceful features. Perhaps this one will find an identity at some point. Seems a shame not to complete him- or maybe it's a her? This shot has a very soft feel to it. Very nice!
Beautiful composition and an eerily fitting illustration for the Ghandi quote. - Truths are truths and remains so no matter how many great men or women speak them. Compassion has a far greater reach than revenge or equity of loss.
A great, big, softly lit, well sighted "THANK YOU!" to all! He really does look that soft and smooth in real life. He is a gorgeous head. I appreciate your time and your comments. Thank you so much.
Stunning capture. Love the missing eye. As for the human condition, I'm always reminded of a quote from Cormac McCarthy's novel Outer Dark. βSomeone should tell a blind man before setting him out that way"
I think Wish is lovely, I would not be able to part with him for anything
